Wounded veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center aren’t shy about hitting the hardwood. Typically that means wheelchair basketball, but that changed this week. For the first time in three years, a stand-up amputee basketball clinic came to Walter Reed.

Basketball provides hope for servicemen like Josh Wege. Just being on the court helps him fulfill a dream he once thought could never be possible.

Amp1, the nation’s only standing amputee squad, found that some veterans–like Sgt. Matthew White–can more than hold their own.
