WASHINGTON — Nationally the number of veterans receiving federal education benefits has doubled in recent years and that number is expected to continue to grow as the military draws down by roughly one million service members over the course of the next few years. Experts expect many to enlist in colleges and universities across the country as a result of not being able to re-enlist.

Traditionally just a small fraction of the student body, the unique needs of student veterans will become more prominent as more enroll.
