Statistics show that the U.S. is slipping in math and science, inspiring the Obama administration to actively push for expanded STEM education. That trend has taken hold in schools across the nation, coinciding with a changing model of education — moving away from rote memorization toward high level skills training and interaction with abstract concepts. A two-day regional robotics competition held this past weekend showed how some students are playing games with the robots they’ve made, and learning math and science in a whole new way.
