Georgetown journalism students, faculty and supporters stood blindfolded in front of the White House on April 18 to send a message to President Barack Obama- that he finish strong and bring Austin Tice home, safely.
Austin Tice- a Georgetown alumn, Marine Corps veteran and journalist disappeared in Syria in 2012 while freelancing for various news organizations.
Students met with Tice’s parents earlier this month discussing his plight and confidence that he is still alive overseas, motivating them to take action.
Georgetown Journalism Director, Barbara Feinman Todd, said Tice’s parents “urged the students to do something…to write to their congress person, President Obama, the White House”
Young supporters said they realize this could be them in the future and are standing for press freedom and all journalists abroad.
