WASHINGTON – Donald Trump was sworn in Friday as the 45th president of the United States and promised those gathered in front of him on the National Mall that his policy will be “America first” in eradting “radical Islamc terrorism”, strengthening borders and brining more jobs and wealth to the middle class.

Moments after Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. administered his oath of office, Trump delivered a 16-minute address decrying the Washington establishment for policies that he said have divided the United States, diminished its position around the world and exploited the American public for the benefit of a few elite in the political circles.

“This American carnage stops right here and stops right now,” he said to applause from the audience. “We are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.”

“January 20th, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again,” he said.

He went on to criticize past trade policies, pledging to make the borders safe again. “From this moment on, it’s going to be America First,” he said, adding that he would bring back jobs, wealth and the dreams of the American people.

The president also said that his administration would forge new alliances and even honor old ones, but never at the cost of U.S. interests. He promised to eradicate “radical Islamic terrorism” and reinforce borders.
