WASHINGTON – Sixteen-year-old Rosie Eden and her mother, arrived at the Supreme Court at 1 a.m. Tuesday to get in line for seat at Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s first appearance on the high court to hear the oral arguments attended by the newest Justice, Brett Kavanaugh.
The Edens live in Phoenix but were in Washington to tour colleges in the D.C. area.
“We planned this trip four months ago,” mother Debra Lynn Eden said. “We had no idea we’d be here for this.”
Rosie added, “We are the masters of timing.”
The Edens and other would-be spectators waited patiently until the doors opened.
Meanwhile, a small group of protesters stood in a line on the sidewalk outside the court. Some were dressed in the red costume made famous by the movie and book, “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Barricades and police prevented them from getting close to the building.
Tuesday’s arguments involved the Armed Career Criminal Act, which imposes an elevated mandatory minimum sentence for a “violent felony” committed with “physical force.”
