“Mad as hell” doctors rally for health care reform. (Rachel Claytor/MNS)

WASHINGTON-They are “mad as hell” and they want Congress to know it. Some of the players most affected by health care reform gathered in Lafayette Park across from the White House Wednesday to protest current health care reform. They are urging President Barack Obama to halt all reform talks and start from scratch with a single-payer system that guarantees every person health care.

More than 100 cardiologists, oncologists, and family pracitioners travelled from across the country to attend the White Ribbon Rally.

Doctors shared stories of patients going bankrupt because of medical costs and of families who were unable to afford necessary treatments.

“I’m mad as hell that Americans are going bankrupt. I’m mad as hell that my patient had the American dream but now it’s gone and he has to start over. We need single-payer health care and we need it now,” said Dr. Katherine Ottaway, of Washington.
