WASHINGTON – First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed almost 100 D.C. children to the White House to kick off the South Lawn Series Tuesday. In support of the Let’s Move! campaign, the summer-long series invites kids to participate in sports, games and various physical activities on the South Lawn.

The First Lady asked the children to make a commitment to exercise everyday.

“This series that we’re doing on the South Lawn is really to encourage kids,” the First Lady said to the kids at the launch. “What I want you guys to do is to make that commitment that you will do your best to get that 60 minutes [of exercise]  in every single day.”

The kids participated in activities led by the trainers of the Washington Redskins, Capitals, Nationals and Wizards with the help of  P.E. teachers from D.C. public schools.
