Thousands of children and their families gathered on the South Lawn of the White House Monday to celebrate the annual Easter Egg Roll. A record 30,000 people participated in this year’s event, which is a Washington tradition dating back to the 1860’s.
Along with rolling eggs, the White House set up many activities for kids including an obstacle course, music, sports, and storytelling. The event ran most of the day, though President Barack Obama, his family, and the Easter Bunny were there in the morning to get things started.
Tickets for the event are distributed through an online lottery system each year.
