With U.S. troops beginning withdrawal from Afghanistan this year, American businesswoman Terry Neese, founder of the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women, said her nonprofit, Afghan women mentoring program will remain in place. Neese’s “Peace through Business” program teaches Afghan women a combination of entrepreneurial skills and female empowerment in order to promote economic stability and ultimately, peace with Afghanistan because “It is hard to be at war with someone you do business with,” Neese said.
