WASHINGTON — On Saturday, 65 protesters holding a sit-in in opposition to the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline outside the White House were arrested for violating sidewalk traffic laws. From Aug. 20 through Sept. 3, activists with the Tar Sands Action group will protest the pipeline, which would bring oil sands petroleum into the U.S. Environmentalists say oil sands petroleum is especially harmful to the environment, but the oil industry disagrees and says there are potential benefits to oil sands.
