WASHINGTON – A bipartisan bill that was introduced back in January – the Immigration Innovation Act – would increase H-1B visas, which are for workers in high-tech jobs, from 65,000 to 115,00 and possibly higher. As the Senate overwhelmingly voted to debate on the comprehensive immigration bill last week, this techy component will likely be put back on the table for discussion.

The bill, commonly known as I-Squared Act, would not only increase the number of visas, but it would also remove the current cap on visas for U.S. advanced degree holders and give an employee who is fired up to 60 days to find a new sponsor.
