President Barack Obama and former President George H. W. Bush honored Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton, the 5,000th recipients of the Daily Point of Light Award during a White House ceremony Monday.
Bush established the award in 1990 to honor individuals who make a difference through community service.
Hammer and Hamilton, of Union, Iowa, receive the 5,000th Daily Point of Light award for the nonprofit they founded, called Outreach, that delivers food to starving children in more than 15 countries.
The ceremony was attended by first lady Michelle Obama, former first lady Barbara Bush.
