The job market is getting healthier. But gas prices are higher. Home values are on the rise. But so are mortgage rates. In this mixed economic landscape, how did American consumers feel about the economy in July?
The answer depends on which indicator you look at. The Consumer Board Confidence Index had Americans as feeling less optimistic, while another almost identical indicator, the Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, showed the mood had become more upbeat.
