WASHINGTON – Tons of people including media and celebrities turned out to celebrate the famous chili and hot dog joint’s 55th anniversary. Bill Cosby, who might be the Bowl’s No. 1 fan, introduced long-time employees who expressed joy and appreciation for the owners and the business.

The owners of the eatery also announced that they’ll be franchising the company, so people will be able to enjoy Ben’s in other places besides the District. Dr. Neil Parsan, ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, the owners’ native country, made a special request.

“Let me end by challenging Ben’s Chili Bowl,” Parsan said, “to 55 more years of service and 55 more branches.”
