WASHINGTON– Good nutrition plays a vital role in keeping the elderly community functioning and healthy. However, some seniors aren’t eating well. Many cannot afford the food that could help keep them healthy. Malnutrition can lead to loss of strength and weight, and reduced resistance to disease and illness. Unfortunately some elderly do not understand the impact malnutrition plays on their health. The National Caucus and Center on Black Aging held a malnutrition symposium to address how elderly can improve their health while preparing low cost meals.
