WASHINGTON – The USDA Farmers Market opened for its 19th summer season on Friday. The market, which operates near the National Mall, offers tourists, federal employees and community members fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as locally-made products like olive oil and hand soap. In addition to its sales, the market serves as a laboratory for USDA research on farmers market management.
