Thousands of North Koreans are being forced to work abroad for little to no pay to support the North Korean regime, according to human rights groups and East Asia experts.

A group of defectors now living in South Korea testified about the practice of forced labor and provided recommendations for what the U.S. can do to protect these victims of human trafficking.

The information will be passed on to the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on North Korea, which began an investigation of charges of human rights abuses by the regime in March 2013.
