EMMITSBURG, Md. — For Tim Mergen, faith and service are in his genes: his grandfather was a war veteran who spent three years in a prisoner of war camp in Southeast Asia. During that time, Mergen’s grandfather prayed the rosary every day and claimed that is what brought him home.
Mergen followed in his grandfather’s footsteps. A former Air Force pilot,the 27-year-old Madison, Wisconsin native is re-focusing his military career and will become an Air Force chaplain. In this video, we follow Mergen from Emmitsburg, Maryland to Washington, D.C. where he attended the Papal mass along with his other priests-to-be.
