WASHINGTON — More than 50 teachers from across the country were honored at the White House. Each of the educators has been nominated “Teacher of the Year” in their home state or territory.
Amy Hewett-Olatunde, a teacher at LEAP High School in St. Paul Minnesota, was one of the teachers honored by President Obama. She teaches the English language to students who come into the United States as immigrants or refugees.
The 2016 Teachers of the Year will be announced throughout the month of May.
