WASHINGTON — This year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival highlighted the diversity of American life and the rich traditions of American circuses. Some of the performers who are immigrants to America said circuses gave them a sense of community and belonging.
The annual festival features daily and evening programs of music, song, dance, celebratory performance, crafts and cooking demonstrations, cultural discussions. This year’s festival takes place from July 1 to July 4 and from July 4 to July 9.
