WASHINGTON — Critics of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson say his proposals to slim down the State Department have hurt America’s ability to conduct diplomacy abroad.
In a rare interview with 60 Minutes Sunday, he was on the defensive, saying the department is not being “dismantled,” and argued that it is still reaching all of its key foreign policy objectives.
Despite Tillerson’s objections to major criticisms of his performance, he has still brought unprecedented reforms to Foggy Bottom.
