WASHINGTON — One Nation Commission, a pro-immigrant group, released a report Tuesday about how immigrants strengthen the American economy. The report pays particular attention to the impact of the altered public charge rule under the Trump administration, which would make it more difficult for immigrants to get green cards if they might rely on public assistance. This includes whether or not the immigrant currently uses benefits like food stamps, housing subsidies, and cash assistance.
