WASHINGTON — Voting for the 2020 election has been underway for weeks. Roughly 100 million ballots have already been cast, including nearly 10 million ballots from young people ages 18-29.

This change in voter behavior comes from a demographic that is traditionally less likely to vote. However, this year more young people are voting and make up a larger share of the early voting electorate than they did in 2016 or 2018. Millennials and some members of generation z make up 37% of eligible voters, meaning young people could wield significant political power in this election.
