WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris is making history and little girls everywhere are watching. Soon after the election announcement, Aileen Carr was out celebrating the historic win with her young daughter, Maya.

“Maya has a white momma and a Black daddy and it’s really nice to see someone who is not only a woman but also a mixed race woman elected vice president,” Carr said. “It’s something I didn’t know if I would see in my lifetime.”

Maya said she would be a good president one day because then she would, “get to rule everything.”

Harris is the third female to be nominated and the first to take on the role. She’s also the first African American and the first South Asian American to hold the office.
