Many states, including Ohio, are increasing their minimum wages instead of waiting around for the federal government to raise it. D.C. increased its minimum wage taking effect July 1, and 13 states raised their minimum wages this year. Ohio’s minimum wage rose to $7.95 at the start of the year, and there’s already a bill in the House to increase it to $10.10 by next year. Minimum wage employees and unions support it, but economists are split.
