This Wednesday, the Library of Congress held a very spooky event for Halloween.
More than 60 people helped to bring Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back to life by reading the novel aloud in the library throughout the day in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the novel.
The electrifying 9-hour event was streamed live across the globe as part of the worldwide “Frankenreads” celebration. The novel has inspired countless films, costumes and imitations. The library also held screenings of Frankenstein movies and discussions about the story throughout the past week.
Representatives from the library said they would be open to hosting similar readings for classic novels in the future.
