WASHINGTON — The Latin American Career Academy will open its doors on Sept. 10 in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of the nation’s capital. The school will serve students who may have been left behind in the rapid gentrification of the neighborhood in the northwest section of the city. Students will range in age from 16 to 24, an older-than-average student population. The goal for the incoming class: Graduate with a head start on a career and college.
