WASHINGTON — To honor the anniversary of Winston’s Churchill’s speech to Congress just prior to World War II, Roger Daltry of The Who sang “Stand By Me” to a packed audience in Statuary Hall at an unveiling of a bust of Churchill last week.

Secretary of State John Kerry,  House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell extolled the accomplishments of the late British prime minister during the ceremony.  Churchill’s grandson, Nicholas Soames also spoke at the event followed by a finale by Daltry, who’s presence confounded many because there appeared to be no specific connection between the rocker and the prime minister.
