Findings by the Cleveland Clinic about brain trauma have influenced the Nevada Athletic Commission to require functional brain testing for all fighters every time they square off or on a yearly basis.
Sen. John McCain joined Dr. Charles Bernick, associate director of the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, at a news conference on Capitol Hill. Former professional football player and ex-MMA fighter, Herschel Walker, and former heavyweight champion, Larry Holmes, were also there to support brain testing for fighters.
