MARYLAND — Marine Veteran Adam Devine, 25, was on foot patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan, when he stepped on a landmine that blew off his legs. Before joining the Marines he played goalie on an ice hockey team for 11 years.
He missed the sport, and now he plays center for the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Sled Team with other wounded veterans. He says that learning to play the game he loves in a sled gives him a sense of freedom that he doesn’t have off the ice. He also says being on the USA Warriors team has been the best form of therapy and has helped him cope with his condition.
