WASHINGTON – A local band from Pennsylvania, the Hamburg Area High School marching band, made history in the nation’s capital.

“There were three bands nominated by Congressman Dent and we are so honored to be the one that actually has the opportunity to come,” says band director Megan Reimer. “So it’s a very big honor and a blessing.”

This was the school’s first time participating in the National Independence Day Parade held in Washington D.C. each year. Thousands attended the parade and despite the rain, the band members played with purpose.

“It was a really a great honor being able to be the only ones from Pennsylvania to show off our pride for our state and our country,” says senior band member Brandon Porter.
