WASHINGTON–On Jan. 8th, the Department of Homeland Security announced the elimination of Temporary Protected Status or TPS for over 200,000 Salvadorans.
TPS was issued to Salvadorans after back to back earthquakes in 2001 caused widespread damage in El Salvador. Salvadoran TPS recipients will be required to leave the United States by Sept. 9, 2019. Medill News Service spoke with TPS recipients from El Salvador to hear their concerns.
