WASHINGTON— Glenn Youngkin’s gubernatorial campaign victory in Virginia last month made parental outrage over educational issues a central theme. In doing so, the Governor-elect has given Republicans a nationwide campaign messaging strategy heading into the 2022 midterms as many pundits attribute Youngkin’s attacks on Critical Race Theory (CRT) as a leading factor in his unexpected victory. 

Though it is being used as a political talking point in the public square, the definition for the term “Critical Race Theory” has changed colloquially from its original academic meaning. How will this change impact U.S. politics in future election cycles?
