READING, Pa. – When rain delayed the July, 13 game between the Fightin Phils and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies for about 90 minutes, fans did the next logical thing – duck into the FirstEnergy Stadium concourse to grab some food.

The ballpark cuisine offers something for everyone. If you’re a health nut, they have tons of gluten free snacks and also veggie lasagna. If you need something to satisfy your sweet tooth, try the Dipping’ Dots. If you like to eat until your pant no longer button up, you can try ‘67 Club or the Bunbino Deck Picnic in left field. These all-you-can eat buffets serve everything from mac and cheese and barbecue ribs to grilled hot dogs and fresh baked cookies.

“They keep adding new things and new foods to the menu,” said Dave “Baltimore” Edwards, a retired construction worker who is a seating usher at the field. “It’s really cool here and people are always coming to the park.”

The show stopper during the rain delay was the little pretzel booth tucked behind the ‘67 Club buffet. And after getting caught gawking at the workers creating the pretzel works of art I had to get one.

I ordered the chicken parm stuffed pretzels – after one bite I was in heaven. The pretzel oozed with a tomato and cheese sauce. Adding the chicken meatball to the mix and you have the best pretzel in the history of pretzels.

The stadium also featured a few special burgers like the “Homerunner,” a burger patty topped Cheese Wiz, American cheese, French fries, a ground beef burger patty and their special sauce. They wouldn’t give me the secret special sauce formula.

Overall, the ballpark food and atmosphere was great. On a 10-point scale, I’ll give it an 8.5.
